We are proud to share that Corporate Traveller guests at any of Scenic Hotel Group’s 16 hotels across New Zealand will have the opportunity to purchase a carbon neutral bed and breakfast room rate.
According to the Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, hotels are responsible for between 10 and 20 percent of the tourism industry’s overall greenhouse gas emissions. To limit global warming, the hotel industry needs to reduce its carbon emissions by an estimated 90 per cent per room by 2050.
Scenic Hotel Group CEO Karl Luxon said this is a challenge they are taking on at both ends – creating a more sustainable business model, that will then allow them to gradually reduce the cost of the offset over time.
