Air New Zealand trial vanilla-flavoured edible coffee cups

Air New Zealand is trialling vanilla-flavoured edible coffee cups for passengers in the air in an attempt to reduce waste. Flyers both on flights and on the ground will be served leakproof cups that double as an edible dessert bowl. According to Air New Zealand customer experience manager Niki Chave, Air New Zealand currently serve more than eight million cups of coffee each year, and so far the cups have been a hit with the customers.

Qantas announces a new way to donate 

Qantas announced the carrier is donating AUD$1 million to Australia‘s bushfire relief and recovery. The airline plans to install donation collection points in terminals and enable Qantas Points to be converted into cash donations. Efforts in total are expected to raise more than AUD$3 million.

Air New Zealand opens new regional lounge in Nelson 

Air New Zealand opened its new regional lounge in Nelson. The new lounge is part of a $60 million investment in lounges throughout New Zealand over the next two years. The lounge, which has almost double the seating of the previous space can cater for around 130 customers. It is located on Level 1 of the new Nelson Airport terminal and has a number of different zones available to customers – including a buffet, café and light refreshments, a self-service drinks station, as well as business, lounge and quiet areas.

Auckland International Airport second Park & Ride facility

Auckland Airport has announced plans to open a second ‘Park & Ride’ facility to boost options for access to terminals and reduce the number of vehicles on the road network. With 3200 places, the new facility will be a multi-storey car park and pick up/drop off area connected to the international terminal, as well as increased valet parking services.

Hotel Updates

Event Hospitality & Entertainment open a new property located in The Rocks

Event Hospitality & Entertainment Limited has announced the opening of their latest property, Rydges Sydney Harbour. With 176 rooms on offer, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception. The property will be open from 15 January 2020 and guests will also have access to one of the best views of Sydney Harbor from the rooftop.

Accor opens Novotel Christchurch Airport hotel 

The NZ$80 million new-build hotel is conveniently located across from the airport’s domestic and international terminal. The facility spans six-floors offering 200 guestrooms including 10 suites. Many of the rooms, including the meetings and function spaces, offer views toward the airport including the terminals, control tower and departure gates. Guests can take advantage of an on-site car parking, gym, a lobby bar and multiple hotel restaurant options.
