Flight Centre K2 Cycle Race 2018

We are proud to announce that Flight Centre is the official sponsor of the Flight Centre K2 cycle event. The event is held on 27 October 2018 and starts in the Coromandel and travels in an anticlockwise direction through Thames, Tairua, Whitianga and back to Coromandel.

The Flight Centre K2 cycle race has a reputation of being one of the toughest one day cycle challenges in the Southern Hemisphere, yet one of the most rewarding.

You’ll travel through lush forest, Pacific coastlines and farmland throughout the Coromandel Penninsula whilst you push yourself to the limit on this 192km course.

The event is named after Kuaotunu, an enchanting community on the wild eastern coastline of the Coromandel Peninsula. In Maori, the name Kuaotunu means “to inspire fear in young animals” The 2 represents the almost 200km that the ride will cover. By coincidence Flight Centre K2 is the 2nd highest, and probably the most difficult mountain climb in the world.

Not a professional cyclist? There are options for riders of all ages and abilities, including the Schwalbe K1 106km race and the 53km Nicolas Browne Challenge.
