The business traveller's guide to Singapore

Singapore isn't just one of the world's most popular business hubs, it's also Corporate Traveller's second most ticketed international destination.

Make the most of your trip to the Garden City with our need to know guide to hotels, eating and drinking and downtime.

Hotels

A room with a view
The vistas at The Fullerton Bay Hotel take some beating, with the floor to ceiling windows offering front-and-centre views of Marina Bay. The outlook isn’t the only thing the Fullerton has going for it either, this 100-room hotel offers superb service to go with its five-star amenities.

A cool place to kick back
In some ways, the style-centric Naumi Hotel is the polar opposite of its grand neighbour, the celebrated Raffles Hotel, but what the two properties have in common is a commitment to spoiling their guests. At the Naumi, that includes little luxuries such as in-room phone chargers, a free happy hour every evening and a rooftop pool.

All the bells and whistles
There is nothing small about the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, with 2,500 rooms, more than 60 restaurants and bars and 170 upmarket stores. Whether it's drinks with a view at the Ce La Vi bar or a swim in that spectacular 150-metre long rooftop infinity pool, plenty of memorable moments await.

Drink and dine

Only in Singapore
Singapore’s hawker food remains one of its signature experiences. On Satay Street, also known as Boon Tat Street, the satay grills fire up at sundown. Come before 7pm to avoid the crowds and order up a selection of skewers.

Treat your clients
At Odette, every lunch is a long lunch. The quickest dining option here is the four-course lunch. Dinners stretch to six or eight courses. Mind you, with food this good – think Scottish hand-dived scallops with hazelnut crumble, artichoke crisps and Perigord truffles – you'll be happy to linger longer.

Dinner with colleagues
A steady stream of diners make the trip to Sentosa to try Chinese classics with a twist at Blue Lotus. Start with light bites such as the crispy fried salmon skin with salted egg yolk and lime zest. If you are eating with a group of friends, the suckling pig is the go-to dish.

A quick drink
There is a lot to love about Gibson.  Red leather banquettes, green bar chairs, a marble-topped bar and a menu of creative cocktails. What really keeps people coming back to this shophouse bar is the laidback vibe and friendly service.

Got a spare hour?

Haji Lane
Take a walk along Haji Lane for a hit of urban chic. Enjoy the eye-catching street art and cute cafes and shops tucked into colourful Chinese shophouses.

Gardens by the Bay
This 100 hectare park is known for its two huge conservatories and the soaring Skytrees which put on a dazzling light show every night. The gardens are open until 2am making it a great option for an after-dinner stroll.

Treat your feet
Head to Chinatown for a cheap-as-chips foot massage. The experience isn't always gentle but you will leave feeling rejuvenated.

Top tip

You are in the tropics here, so don’t give in to the temptation to walk between meetings. Talk to your Travel Manager about private transfer options to make sure you're not turning up to meetings a tad damp.
