Non-stop flight launched between Melbourne and Los Angeles

United Airlines will launch a new non-stop flight between Melbourne and Los Angeles on October 26 this year.

The service will operate six times a week on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft and carry 252 passengers from Melbourne Airport to LAX.

United Airlines Vice Chairman Jim Compton said the airline was excited to launch the new trans-Pacific service using the latest version of the Dreamliner aircraft.

"Our customers on these new flights will enjoy a more convenient itinerary, as well as improved in-flight comfort and amenities," Mr Compton said.

"At the same time, we will seek to make changes to our Sydney schedule which will enable faster connections via our San Francisco and Los Angeles hubs from points throughout the Americas."

There are a total of 48 BusinessFirst seats available, 204 in Economy and 63 Economy Plus seats with more leg room and individual space available than the standard Economy cabin.

The airline will also re-time its daily departures from San Francisco and Los Angeles to allow more convenient arrival times and connections for passengers on flights out of Sydney.
