Peppers’ Adelaide debut

Mantra Group has opened its first Peppers brand property in Adelaide. The 202 room Peppers Waymouth Hotel is centrally located and close to the Adelaide Convention Centre. It features two food and beverage outlets, an indoor lap pool, gym, spa, sauna and meetings and events spaces catering for up to 150 people.

Qantas Asia boost

Qantas will introduce four additional weekly services between Sydney and Hong Kong from 26 October 2015. The new services will operate on A330 aircraft with lie flat business class seats and complement its existing daily services from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Etihad baggage changes

Etihad Airways’ new Fare Choices tariff structure is now in effect. Baggage on most routes continues to operate on a piece system with allowances based on Fare Choice, route and Etihad Guest membership status. Economy Value and Economy Freedom fares on select routes permit two 23kg pieces instead of one 30kg piece.

Nanjing 72-hour visa free 

Nanjing is the latest Chinese city to join the country’s visa-free scheme. Australian travellers can now visit Nanjing for up to 72 hours without a visa. The scheme now covers 16 cities across China.

New United First seats

United Airlines will roll out new custom-designed first class seats to more than 200 of its narrow body aircraft. The new United First seats will be 21.1-inches wide and feature a design patented tray table that includes a tablet holder, universal power outlets and extra storage. The carrier will retrofit its A319 and A320 aircraft as well as many B737 and B757 in the new fit out.

Virgin upgrades facilities at Brisbane Airport 

Virgin Australia has upgraded its facilities at Brisbane Airport’s domestic terminal. The carrier's new lounge is double its previous size and now features improved seating and dining options. Virgin Australia has also introduced a Premium Entry experience at the airport offering kerb to lounge access for business class passengers and eligible Velocity members.

Holiday Inn Cairns

InterContinental Hotels Group has opened the Holiday Inn Cairns Harbourside on The Esplanade. The former Mercure Cairns Harbourside features 173 rooms, restaurant, wine bar, swimming pool and spa, 24 hour room service, 24 hour business centre and meeting spaces catering for up to 150 people. 

SQ Premium Economy delayed

Singapore Airlines has delayed the roll out of its Premium Economy cabin on its A380 fleet due to installation issues. Routes impacted include selected services to Sydney (25 Oct – 5 Nov and 24 Dec – 2 Jan) as well as flights from Singapore to Los Angeles via Tokyo, New York via Frankfurt, London, Zurich, Paris, New Delhi, Mumbai, Tokyo and Shanghai. Passengers with Premium Economy tickets will be offered alterative arrangements.
