QantasLink bound for Toowoomba

QantasLink will debut a new route between Sydney and Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport in Toowoomba on 17 November. The carrier will operate double daily services from Monday to Friday and daily flights on the weekend. These are the first scheduled services announced for Australia's first privately-funded public airport.

New ibis for Brisbane 

Australia’s largest ibis Hotel will open in Brisbane in early 2016. Construction of the new 368-room ibis Brisbane Elizabeth Street will begin later this year. The property will be centrally located close to the Myer Centre and Queen Street Mall.

Virgin Australia introduces Premium Exit Option 

Virgin Australia has opened it's new Premium Exit facility in Melbourne. Premium Exit give fast access to the gate through an exclusive security screening area that’s links directly from the lounge. The facility is open Monday to Friday from 45 minutes prior to the first departure. Passengers gain access to two private screening lanes that connect seamlessly to gates 1-10.

Cathay tick for PEDs 

Cathay Pacific has announced it will allow gate to gate use of portable electronic devices (PEDs). This means travellers will be able to use smartphones, e-books and tablets during take-off and landing provided they are in flight-mode. The change comes into effect from 15 September.

Air Canada sends B787s to Beijing 

Air Canada is replacing the B767-300ER currently used on its Vancouver-Beijing route. From 1 February next year, the carrier will operate direct B787 flights between the two cities.

Revamp for Shangri-La Sydney 

Shangri-La Sydney is upgrading its Horizon Club Rooms and lounge facilities. The upgrades will take place between July and late October. All facilities, restaurants and bars will remain open during the revamp, with new rooms to be unveiled in November.

Sofitel to manage Sydney's largest new hotel

Accor’s Sofitel brand will manage Sydney’s largest new hotel in 20 years. The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is being built as part of Sydney's International Convention Centre development. Construction will begin later this year with the hotel scheduled to open in 2017. The property will feature approximately 600 rooms with a rooftop club lounge, meeting rooms, an outdoor pool deck and bars and restaurants with views of Darling Harbour.

New Dallas light rail 

Dallas now boasts a new light rail passenger service linking Dallas/Fort Worth Airport to downtown Dallas. The DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) station is located just three minutes walk from Terminal A and the Orange Line, which runs into the city. The service will operate until 1am on weekdays and midnight on weekends.
