Boeing have created an interior of an aircraft dubbed a 'smart cabin'. Devices are connected to lights and other features through chips embedded near the features meaning they don't need Wi-Fi and are therefore secure and not connected to flight-critical airplane systems or the traditional in-flight entertainment system. The technology is useful to cabin crew who can offer a more personalised service by identifying frequent flyers including exact preferences.
