InterContinental Double Bay opens its doors

The 140-room InterContinental Hotel Sydney Double Bay has officially opened. The newly transformed hotel is the only five-star property outside the CBD and offers function rooms, meeting spaces and a rooftop pool and lounge.

Air NZ relocates at LAX 

Air New Zealand is relocating its LAX operations to the new Tom Bradley International Terminal. The move will take effect from 3 December and provide travellers with smoother processing within through LAX.

Accor reaches new milestone in Hong Kong

Accor has acquired its 600th hotel in the Asia-Pacific region. The Park Lane Hong Kong will join the Pullman brand. The 826-room property, located in Causeway Bay, is currently undergoing a revamp of its Park Lane Suites, executive floors, dining facilities, meeting rooms and executive lounge.

QantasLink axes regional route

QantasLink plans to suspend its Brisbane-Port Macquarie route. The last flight on the route will operate on 5 January 2015. The carrier’s 31 return weekly services from Sydney remain unaffected.

Taj rolls out free Wi-Fi

Taj Hotels is now offering free Wi-Fi across all its 125 hotels. The free service is suited to basic internet use for email, social media and web surfing on a single device. Guests requiring a higher bandwidth can upgrade to a premium tier for a fee.

Singapore Airlines revamps cabins 

Singapore Airlines is refurbishing its fleet of B777-300ER aircraft across all classes including seat upgrades and improved entertainment options. The refurbishment is due to be completed by September 2016. The revamped cabins will feature on the carrier’s daily SQ222/231 services from Sydney and six weekly SQ228/227 services from Melbourne from 27 November. Passengers can expect larger entertainment screens as well as 80 to 82-inch fully-flat beds in first class, 79-inch fully-flat beds in business class and a new seat design in economy that provides more legroom.

New Pullman for Melbourne CBD 

The 419-room Hilton on the Park Melbourne is set to be rebranded as The Pullman Melbourne on the Park from 1 January 2015. Situated at the eastern end of the CBD, the property is opposite Melbourne’s sports and entertainment precinct, including the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Rod Laver Arena.

Emirates boosts JFK

Emirates will launch a third daily A380 service on its Dubai-New York JFK route. From 8 March 2015. The service will depart Dubai at 2:50pm and arrive in JFK at 8:35pm. The return flight will leave JFK at 4:30pm and arrive in Dubai at 1:15pm the following day.
