Self-service kiosks for Toyko's Narita Airport

Tokyo's Narita Airport has joined the digital age with their new self-service kiosks for customers check-in. Issuing boarding passes and baggage tags, the self-service check-in machines offer customers a wider choice of check-in options and give them more control over this part of the travel process. Narita is the third offshore airport to welcome self-service this year, with San Francisco and Los Angeles also offering the service.

New Koru Lounge for Brisbane

Brisbane is the proud home to a new 771 square meter Koru Lounge, catering for nearly 200 customers and offering 70% more seating than previously. Offering expansive views back over Brisbane city and into the lower terminal, the lounge is in prime position. Technology speeding up boarding

Air New Zealand have introduced a brand new accelerated boarding control technology that is speeding up boarding across regional airports. The digital technology allows customers to scan their own boarding passes and has already sped up the average boarding time to just 2-3 seconds and allows staff to operate multiple gates at any one time. These units are currently being rolled out throughout the country with 11 already in place and a further 19 to go.

DoubleTree by Hilton set for Christchurch

Christchurch is soon to be home to a DoubleTree by Hilton. As of 1 September 2016 the iconic Chateau on the Park will become a DoubleTree by Hilton. Hilton Worldwide and DoubleTree by Hilton today announced the signing of a management agreement with M&L Hospitality to manage Chateau on the Park Christchurch, a DoubleTree by Hilton in Christchurch, New Zealand. This joins the existing New Zealand Hilton properties including hotels in Auckland, Taupo and Queenstown. The hotel is nestled amongst 5 acres of beautiful gardens and is an enduring favourite hotel destination amongst locals and travellers to Christchurch. The 192-room hotel includes two food and beverage outlets, meeting rooms, business centre, pool and gym and has recently underwent extensive renovations.

Starwood expansion into Cuba

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has now signed new hotel deals in Cuba. Long-time Havana icon, Hotel Inglaterra will join The Luxury Collection, and Hotel Quinta Avenida will become a Four Points by Sheraton. Both hotels will undergo renovations before raising their new brand flags later in 2016.

Hyatt Place & Hyatt House Brands Expanding Rapidly

The Hyatt Place and Hyatt House brands have generated tremendous momentum through the first quarter of 2016, opening a combined 10 hotels around the world. Currently there are more than 300 Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels open in more than 200 cities around the world, with 45 new properties coming in North America, 20 in the Middle East & Southwest Asia region, and 15 throughout the Asia Pacific region. There are also 10 planned openings for the two brands in Latin America, and three in Europe and Africa.
